Hotel Development Services started as joint venture between two groups that have been in the business of commercial real estate development and construction since 1991.

During the early 1980’s, Jim Clawson, Brian Kelly and Bob Ciampa began developing and building custom homes and condominiums while attending Miami University. Following their graduation from Miami, they formed a construction company to build primarily apartments and homes in the Oxford area which then evolved into more commercial related projects over the years.  CKC, Inc has been developing and building commercial projects including apartment buildings, office buildings, assisted living centers, hotels and restaurants since 1982.

David Wespiser has been in the hotel development and hospitality industry since 1985 when he joined Days Inn of America at their corporate headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. After serving in various corporate capacities including Corporate Auditing and Franchise Services, he moved to Chicago, Illinois to work as an independent Franchise Broker and Developer. He returned to Oxford, Ohio in 1997 to be the final founding member of HDS, LLC. David earned a Bachelors degree in Administration-Accounting from Auburn University.

By successfully developing a wide array of projects, HDS has significant experience with many different kinds of building uses and construction types. HDS received the 2003 Developer of the Year award from InterContinental Hotels Group. Preceding that honor, HDS received The Business of the Year in Oxford for 2002. This award was the result of the aesthetically pleasing design and development of the city parking garage. Many of the projects developed by the company are managed and wholly owned or in part by the principals.
